Join our team at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House and help us deliver vital community services to members of the Little Mountain-Riley Park catchment.
English Language Teacher: Language Enhance Employment Program (LEEP) is responsible for implementing and teaching a specialized employment focused, language curriculum to support local community members to develop the English language skills required to enhance their employment opportunities and experiences. This pilot is part of an innovative, collaborative initiative undertaken by 8 neighbourhood houses in Vancouver to provide practical English language training to those in need of accessible employment supports and English language training.
Reports to: Program Lead/Curriculum Developer and Settlement Team Lead
Hours & location: 20 hours per week (15 hours of teaching + 5 hours of prep plus additional meeting time as required), contract until March 31, 2025, with possibility to renew based on funding.
On site classes: Monday to Thursday (9:00-12:00 pm) / (1:00pm- 4:00pm) / (6:00-9:00pm) — some flexibility may be required.
On site workshop: Fridays / Saturdays

Qualifications/Skills
- 4 years’ experience in community with older adults; commitment to age equity /DEI
- University degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in a relevant field (community development, gerontology, social work)
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and staff supervision/support; partnership development
- Proven experience in project coordination and program development; ability to plan, mobilize, and evaluate various initiatives.
- Proven ability to develop programs and secure funding to implement programs.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability/capacity in budget management, record keeping and report writing
- Knowledge of the LMNHS/Riley Park and experience working with relevant local funders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community residents, volunteers, co-workers and community service partners specifically within the older adults’ sector.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication skills.
- Understanding of the Neighbourhood House Model of Service Delivery, experience working in neighborhood houses preferred
- Additional languages an asset
Payment: $26.89–30 per hour plus 6% vacation pay, 100% employer paid benefits after 6 months
Duration and Days: 21 hours per week, flexible/hybrid

Job Title: LINC 5/6 Instructor for Hybrid Evening Class
Reports to: LINC Lead Teacher/Instructional Developer and the Director of Settlement and Seniors Programs
Hours & location: 15 hours per week, contract until March 31, 2025 with possibility to renew based on funding.
Hybrid class: Monday and Thursday evenings remote; Tuesday and Wednesday evenings on site at 102-1193 Kingsway. Classes are from 6:15–9:15 pm.

ECE Substitutes assist staff to provide support and direct care to children in our various childcare programs working with children ages 3 to 5 years old.
ECE Substitutes Key Duties
- Works with staff, to assist children with their needs promoting their social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional growth.
- Ensure that all safety standards are implemented and maintained.
- Establish and maintain positive daily communication with parents, children, and staff.
- Program plans, prepares and carries out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
- Conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of all the children’s needs.
- Attends to children’s physical needs.
- Maintains confidentiality, keeps records, and reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
- To follow LMNHS and CDC’s policy, procedures, philosophy and mission statement.
- Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
- A team player, someone punctual, organized, takes initiative, and is fun loving
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Certificate required
- Special Needs Certificate an asset
- First Aid Certificate required
- Experience working with children in a child care setting
- Additional language/s, and experience in working in a multicultural environment is an asset.
Remuneration: Starting at $16.37 per hour
Shifts: vary between 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, this positions is on-call as needed
