Family Support Programs

Our Family Support Programs focus on supporting parents in our community by providing inclusive services and a welcoming environment, as well as connecting families to other resources they need.

Family Support

Provides one-on-one support and referrals to parents who are facing life challenges. Staff can help you apply for child care subsidy, subsidized housing, leisure access pass, and income assistance as well as support around parenting and mental health.

Who: Parents of children aged 0–18
Where: Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (#102–1193 Kingsway)
Cost: Free with $10 LMNHS membership

Appointments are appreciated, but drop-ins are also welcome. 

Art Therapy

We work with clients to encourage them to express themselves through different art forms and to address a variety of issues such as anger, grief, and loss.

Who: Children, youth, adults, and seniors
Where: Mostly online; limited in-person availability at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (#102–1193 Kingsway)
Cost: Free with $10 LMNHS membership

Counselling

Counselling is provided by practicum students training to become professional clinical counsellors. Counsellors work with clients experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, bereavement, life transitions, family conflict, low self-esteem, and more. Open to eligible community members.

Early Years Programs

Our early years programs focus on supporting families in raising their children in a welcoming environment, while allowing children to develop social and early literacy skills.

Monday Family Story Time

This program provides the opportunity for new parents to learn songs to sing to their babies, to promote early literacy and bonding.

Who: Families with babies aged 0–12 months
When: Mondays from June 10–August 19
Time: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM

Tuesday Play in the Park

Come and play with your child at Riley Park! This program provides the opportunity for parents/caregivers and their young children aged 0–5 to meet new friends, play, and sing together outside.

When: Fridays from June 7–August 20
Time: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Where: Riley Park (50 E 30th Ave)

Wednesday Family Tea Party

A space for parents and caregivers of children aged 2–5 to unwind and relax while enjoying a refreshments with their children and members of the community!

Who: Children aged 2–5 and their caregivers
When: Wednesdays from June 12–August 21
Time: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

Thursday Family Field Trips

Outings that create opportunities for parents and caregivers to explore the community around them with their children ages 1-5.

Meet at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House at 9:30 AM. Bus tickets available upon request.

Friday Family Drop-In

Bring your children aged 0–5 to enjoy stimulating activities in art, music, movement, and more! Meet and connect with other families in your neighbourhood in a friendly and welcoming environment.
