Building Welcoming and Inclusive Neighbourhoods

LMNHS is part of a consortium of Metro Vancouver neighbourhood houses building welcoming and inclusive neighbourhoods. This program encourages a more inclusive approach to community development that includes the involvement and leadership of newcomers and immigrants. Social inclusion involves recognizing and valuing the experiences, skills and knowledge of newcomers and immigrants in our community, while facilitating participation in community building and acquiring new skills and knowledge. Community kitchens, community garden, asset mapping and parent-driven programs are an example of some initiatives.
