Coast Capital Savings Continues to Make Youth Engagement Project Possible
Vancouver, BC – Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Society is excited to announce the receipt of $7,500 from Coast Capital Savings to support their annual Youth Leadership Project aimed at marginalized and disengaged youth in the Little Mountain/Riley Park community. Coast Capital Savings has been an integral supporter of this project since 2005.
With the generous support of Coast Capital Savings and their willingness to invest in communities, the Youth Leadership Project will continue to be a success. The Youth Leadership Project has been a staple program to Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Society for a number of years. In addition to creating inclusive, safe spaces for youth to develop leadership skills, it helps to foster community connection and allows youth involved to gain self-confidence. As well, participants learn to identify community needs, and plan programs to fill those gaps. Most participants remain involved throughout high school, and many continue their community involvement long after they graduate.
Acting Manager of Children and Youth Programs Erin Dusdal says: ”the youth leadership project has developed some many wonderful young leaders in our community”, she added, “some are now working regularly for us and others have moved on to leadership roles in other organizations or at post secondary institutions. We are so grateful to Coast Capital Savings for their continued financial support for this project. It is making a difference in the participant’s lives and the neighbourhood.”
